Musicians belong to roads; you can never expect them to live in a four-walled house and stay there for the whole of their life. It restricts their imagination and all the creative juices. So they keep hunting for a new flavour that they can add to their music. But what’s the first image of a musician that comes to your mind? For me, it’s a person carrying a big case on his back which can be any of his instruments such as Guitar, Piano or anything else. So imagine a person carrying such a heavy instrument on his back and travelling on the road like a free bird while creating melodies in his mind. I really like that image of creativity and randomness. It’s refreshing to me but just the idea of carrying such a heavy instrument stops me from going in that direction. But the wait has finally ended.
Actually the wait had ended some time before but I’ve just got to know about it. I’m talking about the Android app called Walk Band that has been developed by Revontulet Studio. The compatibility of the app varies with devices. So you’ll have to check it yourself.
When you have Walk Band in your phone, it’s like you’re carrying your whole band single handily. It doesn’t matter if you have any musical knowledge or you’re just beginning to explore this field, Walk Band suits everybody. What differs is just the depth of the rabbit hole you’ll be able to dig in. There are different instruments in Walk Band such as Piano, Guitar, Drum Kit, Drum Machine, Bass, Multi-track synthesizers, etc. Each such instrument has many variations in itself and these all can be combined to produce professional sounds. For example, a general song that you listen to has some or all of these instruments in the background. So if you’re just not looking for a little play, you can actually use it to store any melody or harmony that gets to your mind while you’re on such a ‘free’ journey.
Playing multiple instruments on your small Android phone screen can be congested and confusing. So it’s better if you have a bigger screen such as a Tablet. What’s better is if you have an external MIDI Keyboard, you can connect it over USB and record your sessions. So if it comes to complexity, this app has got the solution for you.
I would say that arranging and editing music on Walk Band is simply like editing your documents. You might not know what a note is but the simplified graphics make it very easy for you to differentiate between two and use the proper one. If you’ve been successful creating a good piece of music, why don’t you share it with others! There is a dedicated music zone where you can share your music and listen to other users’ Midi music recordings.
So this is a very cool app to check out. It already has more than 50 million downloads and we don’t have any reasons to argue with it. It’s available for free in the Play Store. Make sure you get your hands on it today!
